I’m not drawn to internal reflection. In fact, I’m pretty shallow most of the time.

But the last 5/6 months has made even a guy like me with blinders on think about the ease with which many of us breeze through life, and the incredible hurdles and challenges that so many more face every day. Either because of skin color, gender, disability, sexual orientation, poverty, lack of opportunity, a series of cruel events, the ambivalence of others; even the hatred of others.

This isn’t some “woke” moment – I’m probably just as dense and unobservant as I’ve always been. But I do appreciate and recognize my incredible good fortune. My family is fit and healthy, and with the exception of some Covid shutdown headaches and dreams slightly delayed that have been experienced by eldest and youngest sons; we’ve been largely untouched by the coronavirus. I get to work with some great clients that have been marginally impacted by world events; I travel less and have a seriously cool office setup 20 feet across the driveway; when I do travel it’s a 90-minute car ride to a client with an amazing group of friendly committed people; and my Zoom/Teams colleagues are all enthusiastic, engaged, and seem to be thriving for the most part; although one or two would love to be in an office a day or two a week – right KF!?

Even after a positive C-19 test early last week I’ve experienced a couple of hours of aches and pains and nothing more. Other than carefully quarantining and avoiding my wife for two weeks (which royally sucks), even that frightening prospect has patted me gently on the back and departed stage left.

So what can I do other than appreciate my dumb luck? I don’t have enough cash or clout to make any sort of significant impact; but if we’ve worked together in the past and you need a reference, a sounding board, or an introduction; give me a shout – my email address is in my LinkedIn profile. And even if we’ve never met and you’re in sales or looking to get into sales, are having a tough time, or need some insights, suggestions or a sounding board, send me a LI message and I’ll get back to you and help in any way I can.

And yes I realize this isn’t an original idea, and many have been making the same offer for months. So … my thanks to them for stepping up to the plate sooner, and my thanks to you if you make a similar offer to your network.

Be well.
